As part of my research both for my novel and for an upcoming blog piece, I read Carol Padden and Tom Humphries' Deaf in America: Voices from a Culture.

For those of you interested in learning more about Deaf culture, history, and signed languages, I can't recommend this brief but knowledgeable book enough! While a bit technical for the casually interested reader, it's perfect for those who are ready to dive in head-first to exploring how Deaf culture exists alongside hearing culture, especially when hearing culture so frequently punishes Deaf wisdom and livelihood. ⁣

Because I will be highlighting more about this book in my upcoming blog piece, I won't say more here. More to come!
