It’s been quite a week. To be honest with you all, I’ve felt a great deal of insecurity about my writing lately. As y’all probably know from your own personal experiences, writing is lonely and demoralizing. Quite frankly, I feel like I’m talking into the void more often than not. (That’s the age of the internet for you, I guess.)

Over the last week, I’ve been contemplating how to, at the very least, make myself feel better about my writing. January was the month to experiment with when I put out content— my new writing schedule— and I’ve discovered that it’s tight but possible. So February, then, I will be experimenting with what I put out. Naturally, I’ll continue with my commentaries about the books I’m reading, but I will most likely be moving away from long-form essays toward more short fiction. In November, I published my very first short horror story called “The Rock Swallows Whole” and the experience brought me so much joy. While pushing out creative writing content will be more mentally exhausting with my current schedule, I feel its emotional impact will be great enough to justify it. Keep an eye out for some short fiction coming your way!

On February 1 I’ll post a February Posting Schedule on my homepage as I did for January so that you have a line-up to keep you in the loop.
